The unique construction of Peripeds Peristaltic Insoles is such, that not only do they pump air around the feet, but act as shock absorbing cushions. The Silver ions in the top surface are a very powerful biocide.When actively walking, the silicone tubes within Peripeds, act as a Peristaltic pump, circulating air around the feet. When standing or on limited movement, the silicone tubes simply flex and act as a cushion by distributing the underfoot pressure over a wider area. Whether walking or standing, the Silver ions kill off any bacteria or fungus that might cause smelly feet or Athlete's Foot.
Having incorporated the principals of Peristalsis and hygene, Pedex Limited proceeded to develop the silicone tubes into impact resistant cushions.
Depending on a person's weight, size of feet, etc. the under foot pressure exerted when standing on two feet is approximately 40kPs. If the weight is transferred to one foot, this obviously doubles to approximately 80kPs. When walking, the under foot pressure increases to approximately 200kPs. and when running to approximately 400kPs.
The Silicone tubes in Peripeds Insoles have been engineered, so that below 200kPs. they simply flex and act as cushions, so that the wearer is literally walking on air. When walking and running,the tubes act as crumple zones, gradually collapsing to absorb the impact energy.
When worn in cold weather, heat losses through the sole of the shoe are greatly reduced, due to the insulating effect of the 2mm air gap within the tubes.This can be a great benefit to winter sports enthusiasts.
Peripeds Insoles can be cut to size, will not flatten out with time, are machine washable up to 40 degrees C. and guaranteed to last at least 6 months.
